The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities earmarks a new 513 million euro package for health and aerospace R&D and innovation

The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities has opened a new call for proposals with a budget of 273 million euros for R&D projects within the framework of the PERTE for Cutting-Edge Health and 240 million for projects under the PERTE for Aerospace.

The Minister for Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, stressed that the Government of Spain is investing in strategic sectors with the aim of generating new capacities for the country and solutions to the problems of the citizens.

Aid under this call, which is partially reimbursable, is managed by the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) and linked to the Addendum to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

All individual projects applying for support must be completed by 31 December 2025.

About the aid

The aid under this call, linked to the PERTE for Cutting-Edge Health, aims to improve the health of the Spanish population through scientific knowledge, cutting-edge health innovation and data as vectors of transformation.

R&D and technological innovation projects will be considered eligible if their objective is to meet a clear need, both technically and for healthcare, in the field of diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and monitoring of pathologies in any therapeutic area and whose content involves a significant technological leap forwards, with priority being given to:

  • Promoting personalised precision medicine.
  • Developing advanced therapies and other innovative medicines.
  • Improving prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and health research, based on data collection, processing, analysis and exploitation.
  • Driving the digital transformation of healthcare in cybersecure conditions.

The aid linked to the PERTE for Aerospace aims to make Spanish industry a key player in the challenges and opportunities associated with the major transformations foreseen in the short and medium term in the global strategic space market.

R&D and technological innovation projects will be considered eligible if their objective is primarily aimed at:

  • Research and development aimed at increasing aircraft efficiency and significantly reducing pollutant emissions from air transport, including airport infrastructure and air navigation systems to facilitate more efficient air traffic.
  • New developments of unmanned aircraft and the necessary software and hardware infrastructure for their safe operation in shared airspace.
  • On-board systems and equipment.
  • Design of payloads related to environmental monitoring, quantum communications and security in international cooperation.
  • Strengthening Spanish technological capabilities for the commercial use of space (including New Space).
  • Sustainability, digitalisation and innovation of the aerospace industry, including innovative maintenance systems, such as predictive analytics and real-time monitoring.
  • R&D projects in this field, the content of which involves a significant technological leap or an increase in the technological capacity of the company.
