The minister was accompanied on the visit by the President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, the scientific director of INCLIVA and president of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), Andrés Cervantes, and the coordinator of the Breast Cancer Biology Research Group-INCLIVA, Ana Lluch, among other authorities.

Morant stated that the fight against cancer is a national priority for the Government of Spain and pointed out that the largest amount of money invested in health research is directed at this disease, which has a great impact not only on patients but also on their families and their environment.

During her visit to INCLIVA, the minister visited the Immune 4 ALL project, one of the projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, which aims to detect biomarkers that can predict the effect of immunotherapy on tumours with high mortality rates such as those involved in breast, ovarian, cervical, colon, biliary tract and liver cancer. Eight autonomous communities and nearly 1,600 patients are taking part in this project.

Morant described INCLIVA as a national and international centre of reference in clinical trials in health research and stressed that science is the great hope in the fight against cancer.

PERTE for Vanguard Health

The minister also conveyed the government's commitment to promoting precision medicine, which combines healthcare and research through strategic projects such as the PERTE for Cutting-Edge Health, allocated €1.6 billion of public investment thanks to European funds from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

In this regard, Morant pointed out that Pedro Sánchez's government is allocating European funds to people's health and recalled that Spain is already a leader in clinical trials in health research.

PERTE is a public-private partnership instrument aimed at promoting the creation of a high-performance healthcare system based on precision medicine and the development of advanced therapies for diseases such as cancer, diabetes and ALS.
