Pilar Llop signs an agreement for the transfer of sentenced persons between Spain and Qatar

The Minister for Justice, Pilar Llop and the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Spain, Abdalla Al-Hamar, have signed an agreement for the transfer of persons sentenced to incarceration between Spain and the State of Qatar.

The agreement reinforces criminal cooperation between both countries, since, once ratified by both parties and the formalities for its entry into force are complete, it will be possible to transfer sentenced persons between the countries to complete their sentences.

At the signing ceremony, held at the Ministry of Justice, Llop said: "today we have taken the first step so that, once this agreement comes into force, procedures for transferring Spaniards sentenced in Qatar to Spain can begin".

The signing ceremony was also attended by the Director General for the Maghreb and the Middle East, who reports to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Alberto José Ucelay, and the diplomatic attaché of the Embassy of the State of Qatar, Ahmed Al-Sada.
