The Minister for Health and her counterpart from Morocco meet to strengthen cooperation between the two countries

Darias thanked Minister Khalid Ait Taleb and the delegation from the Moroccan Ministry of Health and Social Protection for their visit, declaring that the meeting was very fruitful in terms of strengthening relations between the two ministries and that progress is ongoing on issues of collaboration and cooperation in health matters.

At the meeting, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health, the ministers shared their experience in different areas, including the management of the COVID-19 pandemic and the vaccination campaign against the virus.

They have also drawn up a roadmap to continue working together to improve the health of citizens. They discussed possible collaboration and exchanges of best practices, techniques and training for health professionals.

The meeting was complemented by a visit to the facilities and laboratories of the Carlos III Health Institute in Majadahonda, where the researchers explained to the Moroccan delegation the main lines of work of this centre of excellence which, among other things, has led the sequencing and genetic research of both SARS-COV-2 and the virus that causes monkeypox.

The delegations included the Secretary of State for Health, Silvia Calzón; the Secretary General for Digital Health, Juan Fernando Muñoz; the Director of the Health Alerts and the Emergency Coordination Centre, Fernando Simón; the Director of the ISCIII, Cristóbal Belda; and for Morocco, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Spain, Karima Benyaich, the Director of Planning, Financial Resources, Equipment and Medicines, Abdelouahab Fadlallah; and the Director of Medicines and Pharmacy, Bouchara Meddah, among other health officials.
