The Viaja Seguro campaign is mainly carried out in its digital dimension and is disseminated on the social networks of the Ministry and throughout its network of Embassies and Consulates.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, is taking part directly in the campaign via a video in which he reminds us of the importance of "travelling well-informed and safely", after the three years during which Spaniards have suffered restrictions on travel abroad.

In the video, Albares invites travellers to consult the Ministry periodically before setting out on their trip and, in case of need, to turn to the consular offices we have on the five continents, "which offer us 24-hour support and service for any emergency that may arise while we are far from home," said the Minister.

The aim of this campaign is to raise awareness of a series of guidelines before travelling abroad, and of the requirements that may exist in the current pandemic situation. These travel recommendations provide useful information on health requirements (such as the need to present a vaccination card or PCR/antigens, quarantines, etc.), in addition to relevant information on necessary documentation (passports and visas), safety conditions, dangers and warnings.

Once abroad, all Spanish citizens have the right to make use of the services offered by their corresponding Consular Office within the framework of its competences: a 24-hour emergency telephone number, emergency assistance to issue laissez-passer and provisional passports, assistance for victims of gender violence and consular protection in general.

The campaign also appeals to the responsibility of travellers, reminding them that, once abroad, all Spanish citizens are subject to the rules of the country they are in, and must respect them at all times. Embassies and Consulates are, in this sense, limited by a line they cannot cross, but they will always offer protection and assistance within the framework of their competences.
