"Tourism has been the sector most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide and both Spain and UNWTO are working together to boost its recovery. The Government wishes to further project the work of the main international organisation in the field of tourism with the aim of strengthening the multilateral agenda to promote sustainable, digital and inclusive tourism in the post-Covid era, to coordinate actions that facilitate international mobility and that this economic activity, which generates development and employment, continues to occupy a priority place on the international agenda", said Reyes Maroto in her speech.

The UNWTO Regional Commissions for Asia and the Pacific meet at least once a year and are the main meeting point between the organisation and its members in this geographical area. On the agenda for Tuesday's meeting is the presentation of the region's tourism priorities, the analysis of the sector's recovery in the face of the Covid pandemic and the preparation of the next UNWTO General Assembly, scheduled for late November and early December in Marrakech (Morocco).
