Spain has performed more than 22.6 million diagnostic tests since start of COVID-19 epidemic

In the last week, between 25 and 31 December, the regional governments have performed a total of 500,486 PCR tests, an average of 71,498 PCR tests a day.

In addition, from 25 to 31 December, the regional governments have performed a total of 270,496 antigen tests (38,642 a day). Including the PCR tests performed, this amounts to a total of 770,982 diagnostic tests over the course of the week, 110,140 a day. Accordingly, the number of diagnostic tests has increased by 4%, at a rate of 481.11 tests per 1,000 inhabitants.

New techniques are gradually being developed for the diagnosis of the infection caused by SARS-CoV2, such as the rapid antigen tests that the Regional Health Departments are starting to introduce to manage the pandemic.
