Spain has performed more than 17.2 million diagnostic tests since start of COVID-19 epidemic

Specifically, the regional governments have notified the Ministry of Health that a total of 17,249,511 diagnostic tests have been performed up to 19 November, of which 15,614,262 are PCR tests and 1,635,249 are antigen tests.

In the last week, between 13 and 19 November, the regional governments have performed a total of 726,277 PCR tests, an average of 103,753 a day.

In addition, from 13 to 19 November, the regional governments have performed a total of 301,710 antigen tests (43,101 a day on average). Including the PCR tests performed, this amounts to a total of 1,027,987 diagnostic tests over the course of the week. Accordingly, the number of diagnostic tests has increased by 6%, at a rate of 366.23 tests per 1,000 inhabitants.

New techniques are gradually being developed for the diagnosis of the infection caused by SARS-Cov2, such as the rapid antigen tests that the Regional Health Departments are starting to introduce to manage the pandemic.
