Spain has performed more than 15 million PCR tests since start of epidemic

Between 30 October and 5 November, the regional governments have performed a total of 851,003 PCR tests, an average of 121,571 a day.

In addition, from 30 October to 5 November, the regional governments have performed a total of 133,885 antigen tests. Including the PCR tests performed, this amounts to a total of 1,142,815 diagnostic tests over the course of the week. Accordingly, the number of diagnostic tests has increased by 8%, at a rate of 318.96 tests per 1,000 inhabitants.

In addition, together with the diagnostic tests performed, the regional governments have also reported a total of 2,610,080 rapid antibody tests, at a rate of 55.42 tests per 1,000 inhabitants.

Furthermore, 1,760,915 antibody blood tests have also been performed, at a rate of 37.39 per 1,000 inhabitants, 8% up on the previous week.

In total, 19,394,289 diagnostic and detection tests for COVID-19 have been performed (PCR, antigen tests, rapid antibody tests and antibody blood tests), of which 1,292,007 correspond to the week from 30 October to 5 November.

New techniques are gradually being developed to diagnose the infection caused by SARS-Cov2, such as the case of the rapid antigen tests that the regional health authorities are starting to introduce to manage the pandemic.
