Luis Planas welcomes European Commission decision to extend deadline for presentation of CAP applications until 15 June

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food asked the European Commission, as did Italy, to extend the period to apply for direct aid under the CAP, which had a scheduled deadline of 30 April, which Spain can extend until 15 May, so that no crop or livestock farmer would have difficulties in presenting their single application under the CAP for 2020, as a result of the restrictions on the movement of people following the recent declaration of the state of emergency to deal with the health crisis caused by COVID-19.

Minister Planas reiterated that the Government of Spain will implement all possible measures and tools so that beneficiaries under the CAP, in view of the current exceptional situation, can present their applications under the CAP for 2020 with full normality, in this case through a longer period for their presentation.
