Spain wishes to express its firm support for the Secretary-General in the organisation of the Food Systems Summit, and offers its assistance to the Secretary-General.

Spain maintains its firm commitment to zero hunger and compliance with SDG 2, contributing to make effective the right to food, as well as to better global governance.

With more than 2 billion people suffering from some form or hunger or malnutrition in the 21st Century, the organisation of this Summit is particularly relevant, given that there is significant evidence that shows that interventions to the benefit of sustainable food production systems achieve a knock-on effect on the attainment of all the Sustainable Development Goals - fighting rural poverty, balancing resilient agriculture with the conservation of bio-diversity, boosting healthy and nutritive diets, and fostering sustainable consumption. All this requires the mobilisation of work in many areas by many stakeholders.

The Food Systems Summit is a great opportunity for everyone to establish a new form of work and to achieve the world we want. A global alliance structured around a new way of pushing through policies that boost sustainable food production systems.
