The law fills a previous legal vacuum in this field of education and regulates it for the first time in 30 years, creating a general framework for arts education, while dignifying it and benefiting a sector that employs 700,000 professionals, 3.5% of total employment in Spain.

In addition to the Minister for Education, Vocational Training and Sport, Pilar Alegría, the meeting was attended by the designer Javier Mariscal and representatives of the Confederation of Schools of Plastic Arts and Design (CEA), Ainoa Martín, Rosa Esteban and Eugenio Vega; Javier Sagarna, director of the School of Writers; the writer of children's and young people's literature, Chiki Fabregat; the assistant director of the Escola d'Escriptura Ateneu Barcelonès, Lluís Martí; the baritone Carlos Álvarez, the dancer César Casares, the theatre producer Jesús Cimarro and the vocal coach and singer Isabel Villagar; the actor Josep María Pou; the director of the Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático, Pablo Iglesias Simón; the drama graduates Carlos González and Laura Ferrer, and the Secretary of State for Education, José Manuel Bar Cendón.
