Yesterday, 16 October, King Felipe VI signed the Royal Decree appointing Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón as President of the Government of Spain, who the Lower House of Parliament gave confidence through an absolute majority in the first vote. The Official State Gazette has today published his appointment.

In front of a copy of the Magna Carta, Pedro Sánchez has pledged to faithfully carry out the duties of his office in loyalty to the King, to keep and uphold the Constitution as the fundamental rule of State and to keep the deliberations of the Council of Ministers secret.

The acting Minister for Justice, Pilar Llop, attended in her position as First Notary of the Kingdom. The ceremony was also attended by the President of the Lower House of Parliament, Francina Armengol; the President of the Upper House of Parliament, Pedro Rollán; the President of the Constitutional Court, Cándido Conde-Pumpido and the President of the General Council of the Judiciary, Vicente Guilarte.
