"Dear Prime Minister,

I have received the news of the despicable and savage attack that took place in Manchester during a concert that was primarily attended by children and teenagers, which led to numerous deaths and injuries.

At this time of great pain, please accept, on behalf of the people and Government of Spain, our solidarity and our deepest sympathies over the victims of this attack, as well as our best wishes for a speedy recovery for those injured, which I would ask that you pass on to their families.

I wish to express my outright condemnation of this atrocious and cowardly attack, and the absolute support of the Spanish authorities. The British people can rest assured that they can count on Spain in the fight against those who use violence to attack our societies.

Today Manchester is in the hearts of everyone.

I take this opportunity, Madam Prime Minister, to express my warmest regards and deepest personal respect".

Mariano Rajoy Brey
President of the Government of Spain
