​Mariano Rajoy congratulates the new Prime Minister of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria

"Dear Mr Prime Minister,

I wish to pass on my warm congratulations on your appointment as Prime Minister.

I am confident that under the leadership of Your Excellency, the close and loyal collaboration that prevails over the strategic relations between our two countries in such important aspects as security, energy and the joint management of migration will be further strengthened. These relations have allowed us to forge an exemplary collaboration over recent years to the benefit, not only of our two countries, but also of the Maghreb region, the Euro-Mediterranean region and the European Union.

A new era is now dawning in which our two governments could give a further boost to our cooperation, by extending and developing it by stepping up contacts, visits and meetings, both in established areas and in other new areas that may present themselves.

I take this opportunity, Mr Prime Minister, to express my warmest regards and deepest personal respect".
