The President of the Government announced this meeting with the Leader of the Opposition on Tuesday, after the Regional Parliament of Catalonia adopted a resolution that seeks to initiate an illegal process to constitute an independent Republic of Catalonia.

Mariano Rajoy received Pedro Sánchez at Moncloa Palace on 28 October, at the start of a round of talks on the situation in Catalonia that he held with the leaders of the political formations and social stakeholders.
