At a press briefing following his meeting with Mariano Rajoy, the President of the Regional Government of the Canary Islands remarked that he attended the meeting with certain proposals agreed with all the social stakeholders in the Canary Islands and that the outcome of the meeting was most "heartening".

Fernando Clavijo expressed his satisfaction at the three core issues of the meeting: the economic and tax system in the Canary Islands, regional financing and the General State Budget for 2016, while certain issues are clarified in the coming days. He also underlined the "commitment" that the President of the Government conveyed "to take into account the singular features of the Canary Islands, a land which he is also very familiar with".
