The State Secretariat for Communication of the Government of Spain and the Televisa group organise the 3rd Communication Forum to be held on 8 December 2014 at the Naval Museum in Veracruz, Mexico, as part of the official agenda of the 24th Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government.

The Communication Forum is a business event at which, taking advantage of the presence of the main Ibero-American leaders from both sides of the Atlantic, opens up a space for dialogue on the present and future of the communications sector, a key driver for the growth of the Ibero-American economies, as well as on the role of the media in the socio-economic development of the region, and on enhancing the cooperation and identity of the same.

With the slogan, "The Media: new technologies, new paradigms", the 3rd Communication Forum will allow its participants to debate and reflect on the effects, benefits and challenges of technology for media groups.

Under this premise, the following workshops will be held:

  • The transformation of audiences.
  • New business models.
  • The future of the media: public authorities and citizens.

This year, the 3rd Communication Forum will include speeches from the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, and the President of the United Mexican States, Enrique Peña Nieto. The forum will also be attended by media groups that broadcast to Ibero-American audiences. In addition to Grupo Televisa, Agencia EFE, Google, Grupo Clarín, Grupo Planeta, Grupo PRISA, Grupo ZED, NBCUniversal/Telemundo, Telefónica, Unidad Editorial and Univision will also take part.

The Communication Forum was set up by the State Secretariat for Communication of the Government of Spain with the aim of enhancing the linguistic and cultural identity of the region and, by extension, the common market for communication in Spanish. The first edition was held in 2012 in Cadiz (Spain), followed in 2013 by Panama City (Panama).

For the second year in a row, the Televisa group is co-sponsoring the event with the aim of promoting cooperation, innovation and informative commitment by the different media groups that attend this meeting to the benefit of Ibero-American audiences.
