President of the Government receives President of Palestinian National Authority

Mariano Rajoy and Mahmoud Abbas said they were pleased by the significant support obtained by the Resolution on the recognition of Palestine as a non-Member State of the United Nations. President Abbas took the opportunity to thank Spain for its support in the voting that took place during the United Nations General Assembly on 29 November.

Furthermore, the President of the Government and the President of the Palestinian National Authority examined perspectives on the Peace Process and agreed on the urgent need for talks to resume between Israel and Palestine as the only way to achieve peace through the two-State solution.

In this regard, Mariano Rajoy called for responsibility and moderation from the Palestinian and Israeli leaders to avoid actions that could complicate efforts in that regard and to take advantage of this opportunity to find a fair, global and long-lasting solution enabling Israel and Palestine to coexist in peace and security.
