The minister also included in this message his support for Goal 2 of the Sustainable Development Goals: to eradicate hunger around the world by 2030.

World Food Day is organised by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations to commemorate the founding of this body in 1945, which seeks to promote greater attention to agricultural production in all countries and greater efforts at cooperation and to raise awareness of hunger, as well as to promote the participation of rural populations, particularly women and underprivileged groups in the decisions and activities that affect their living conditions.

This World Day also seeks to raise public awareness of the nature of the problem of hunger in the world, promote technology transfer to developing countries and foster a sense of national and international solidarity in the fight against hunger, malnutrition and poverty.
