This launch would mean the use of ballistics technology by the DPRK in clear violation of the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, and would represent a grave threat to international peace and security and to stability on the Korean Peninsula.

After the nuclear test carried out by the DPRK on 6 January, the Government of Spain reiterates its call to the North Korean authorities to fully comply with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and abstain from launching ballistic missiles and irreversibly dismantle and substantiate the dismantlement of its nuclear arsenal.

Spain, as Chair of Security Council Committee 1718 on sanctions on the DPRK, reiterates its commitment to collaborating with the international community to continue guaranteeing the rightful application of the international regime on non-proliferation.
