King Abdullah was a statesman who demonstrated great leadership skills in guiding his government and promoting gradual reform in his country, and was a respected figure throughout the Middle East for his desire to help overcome conflicts. It should be remembered that he provided the inspiration for the Arab Peace Initiative approved by the Summit of the League of Arab States in Beirut in 2002.

During his long and fruitful reign, Saudi Arabia has consolidated itself as a reliable partner of Spain in all areas. In reflection of the positive relations that exist between the two royal families, the brotherly relations between the two kingdoms have reached an unprecedented level of intensity.

The Government of Spain welcomes His Majesty King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and offers him its best wishes for success in his reign, safe in the knowledge that the governments of the two countries will continue to further strengthen the excellent relations between the Kingdom of Spain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
