The Ministry of Home Affairs has implemented the National Plan for Critical Infrastructures following the terrorist attack in Paris (France) and has instructed the National Centre for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures (Spanish acronym: CNPIC) to activate the level 3 security protocols under the Counter-terrorism Prevention and Protection Plan.

These protocols consist of assigning specific targets within the relevant territory to the competent police forces (national and regional) that are particularly sensitive to a hypothetical terrorist attack.

Simultaneously, the critical operators affected have been contacted in order to step up security measures to protect their installations, which will remain in ongoing contact with the CNPIC and will also be patrolled by the respective police forces, which have established their contingency and support plans for the various operators.

Furthermore, the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) for Security and Industry has been activated, which is empowered to protect critical infrastructures faced with threats from cyberspace, which have been alerted to the possibility of cyber attacks.
