Mutual awareness of other cultures is a powerful instrument in helping foster friendship between peoples. Thursday's terrorist attack on the French Institute on Kabul must be interpreted as an attack on the friendship between the Afghan people and the French-speaking people and, for this reason, it is particularly reprehensible.
