These actions have been put out to tender by the Directorate-General of Highways and SEITTSA, which will result in renewed economic activity and job creation as a result of the investment therein. Moreover, the implementation of these works will bring significant benefits in highway communications, improving the movement of traffic and highway safety.

Specifically, the resources will be used for 19 actions over approximately 350 km of highway, of which 12 relate to construction and seven to extraordinary highway works.

By means of this loan, the General State Administration will be able to obtain financing under more beneficial conditions than through purchasing debt in the markets.

The investments selected under the project entitled "Fomento Road Upgrade and Rehabilitation" form part of the Infrastructure, Transport and Housing Plan (Spanish acronym: PITVI) 2012-2014. Furthermore, part of the actions fall under the Trans-European Transport Network (TETN).
