The majority of the passengers are Spanish citizens who reside in Japan and their Japanese spouses. 36 children are also on board, including several babies.
Five of the passengers have expressed a wish to remain in Bangkok (the airport where the aircraft will make a technical stopover) and not continue on to Madrid. Hence, a total of 152 passengers will disembark upon arrival at the airport in Torrejón.
The Group Monitoring the Crisis in Japan held its fifth work meeting this morning on the premises of the air base in Madrid in order to supervise the healthcare and logistics services that will be offered to the passengers.
In collaboration with the Nuclear Safety Council and the military personnel at the Torrejón de Ardoz Air Base, the Ministry for Health has defined a complete protocol for treating those people who wish to voluntarily undergo a radiological examination.
Finally, the monitoring group was informed that, according to the latest information gathered by the Embassy in Tokyo, the rest of the Spanish community that has decided to remain in Japan is in good health.
