President Sánchez meets with the head of the Pan American Health Organisation

The President of the Government of Spain and Jarbas Barbosa da Silva discussed the projects that Spain and PAHO are involved in different areas. This organisation is a traditional partner of Spanish cooperation, which is part of the United Nations System and specialises in health within the Inter-American System.

Spain is one of the five non-American States present in the Pan American Health Organisation since 1980, when our country became an Observer State of this organisation. In addition, through the AECID the Government of Spain cooperates assiduously with PAHO in humanitarian projects, and during the COVID-19 crisis, in collaboration with the Spanish embassies and through COVAX, it played a key role in receiving and distributing to Latin American countries the first donations of vaccines made by Spain in the summer of 2021.
