These five priorities coincide with the projects and initiatives set in motion by the Government of Spain.

The President of the Government underlined that "We are at the start of a year with many challenges ahead and the pandemic is clearly the first of these. To that end, Spain has been at the heart of the ACT-Accelerator and other international initiatives to combat the virus from the very outset".

Spain has co-headed up "Accelerator Covid-19 Global Response", an initiative to collect funding and increase diagnostic capacities, treatments and vaccines against COVID-19 and ensure access to all citizens. Countries from all around the world and such organisations as GAVI, the World Health Organization and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have collaborated in the project.

The European Commission tasked Global Citizen last year with introducing campaigns and events to raise funding. To that end, the NGO organised the 'Global Goal: Unite for Our Future' event, which involved famous singers and which President of the Government Sánchez also attended.

Our country has gone beyond that and the Council of Ministers has approved the "vaccination solidarity" plan to guarantee fair, affordable and universal access to the vaccine. "Spain supports Global Citizen in our joint efforts to make this world better every day. Because it is only by taking a step forward that we can be successful: I invite you all to raise your voices and act together to support the change", concluded the President of the Government.
