Pedro Sánchez expresses his recognition to researchers that are running COVID-19 clinical trials at La Paz coordination unit

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez accompanied by the Minister for Health, Salvador Illa, and the Minister for Science and Innovation, Pedro Duque, visited the Central Unit for Clinical Research and Clinical Trials (Spanish acronym: UCICEC) which is coordinating at a national level the development of phase III of one of the most advanced anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccines at an international level.

Pedro Sánchez thanked the research and health personal of the UCICEC for their work, addressing the different clinical trials both for the development of vaccines and medication related to COVID-19.

There, the President of the Government saw the functioning of the clinical trials under development at the hands of the medical team, and enquired after the procedures of the clinical studies at the centre.

La Paz, through the Clinical Pharmacology Service and the UCICEC, is one of the three national centres that have taken part in the early development of the Jannsen vaccine and is coordinating phase III of the clinical trial, which eight Spanish centres are participating in.
