Pedro Sánchez to visit installations that will host Climate Conference

More than 29,000 people have already registered to attend the conference, which is expected to be attended by 196 delegations, including some 50 Heads of State and Government, together with the senior officials of the European Union, including the President of the European Commission, the President of the European Council and the President of the European Parliament. Senior officials from other international institutions, such as the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development and the Inter-American Development Bank will also attend.

Pedro Sánchez and Teresa Ribera will visit Pavilion 10 at IFEMA, where the main institutional events will be held. At the end of their visit, the Acting Minister for Ecological Transition will take part, together with her Chilean counterpart, Carolina Schmidt and representatives from the Climate Conference Secretariat in the symbolic event to hand over the installations to the United Nations.

The Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP25) will begin on Monday, 2 December at 10:30 am with the inaugural ceremony, which will include speeches by the Acting President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres. Previously, the Acting President of the Government will greet the Heads of State and Government, which will begin at the headquarters of the Conference at 10:00 am.

Prior to the start of the COP25, Pedro Sánchez will hold a meeting with the Heads of State and Government of the European Union at 9:00 am and will then meet with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, at 9:45 am. Subsequently, he will meet with the Heads of State and Government of the Latin American countries at 4:00 pm.

At 11:30 am, Pedro Sánchez will chair the Dialogue of Leaders on National Plans to Increase Ambition by 2020. At 2:30 pm, he will offer a lunch to the Heads of State and Government, and at 4:30 pm he will give a press conference and the day will close off with his attendance at a reception offered by the King and Queen of Spain at the Royal Palace.
