This afternoon, the Minister for Health, Carolina Darias, received the Romanian Minister for Health, Alexandru Rafila, at the Ministry of Health to make progress on the agreements that both countries have reached following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding that took place at the 1st Spanish-Romanian Summit in Castellón de la Plana last November.

Minister Darias was accompanied at the meeting by the Secretary of State for Health, Silvia Calzón, and the Secretary General for Digital Health, Information and Innovation in the National Health System, Juan Fernando Muñoz.

The meeting took place after the Romanian delegation's visit to the facilities of the Carlos III Health Institute where they were received by its director, Cristóbal Belda.

The Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries represents a breakthrough in this area of cooperation to achieve the highest standards of health care through the exchange of information and best practices on the management of public health services; the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases or cancer, and the reduction of risk factors; and also in the prevention and prophylaxis of communicable diseases.

In addition, this agreement represents a step forwards in terms of cooperation in research, through the Carlos III Health Institute, and in pharmaceutical policy and specialist training.
