The campaign also underlines the fact that women are suffering from the consequences of the pandemic on several fronts: overburdened with health, essential services and care work, greater job insecurity and labour poverty and an increased risk of suffering from male violence.

According to data from the Ministry of Work and Social Economy, it is primarily women who apply for a sabbatical from work to care for their children (90.93%) and to care for the family (81.26%). At a labour level, only 6.9% of men in work in the last quarter of 2020 worked on a part-time basis. This figure rises to 23.5% for women. In the last three quarters of 2020, 219,200 women were recorded as inactive - not actively job-seeking - and 40,000 women were recorded as unemployed - actively job-seeking - who had lost their last job to engage in care work or for other family or personal obligations. The corresponding figures for men stood at 30,400 and 12,400 respectively.
