Spain has performed more than 32.4 million diagnostic tests since start of COVID-19 epidemic

In the last week, between 12 and 18 February, the regional governments have performed a total of 602,755 PCR tests, an average of 86,107 per day.

In addition, from 12 to 18 February, the regional governments have performed a total of 394,537 antigen tests (56,362 a day on average). Including the PCR tests performed, this amounts to a total of 997,292 diagnostic tests over the course of the week, 142,470 a day. Accordingly, the number of diagnostic tests has increased by 3%, at a rate of 687.91 tests per 1,000 inhabitants.

New techniques are gradually being developed for the diagnosis of the infection caused by SARS-CoV-2, such as the rapid antigen tests that the Regional Health Departments are starting to introduce to manage the pandemic.
