The minister made this announcement after the regular meeting of the Coronavirus Monitoring and Assessment Committee. Furthermore, a meeting of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control was due to be held on Monday afternoon, at which EU countries will unify criteria. "It is important to coordinate with the regional governments and Europe, and to strengthen awareness and early detection measures", stressed the minister.

Salvador Illa also stated that nine possible cases have been assessed in Spain since as of Sunday, six of which have been ruled out and three are currently being examined. Therefore, "there are currently no confirmed cases of coronavirus in our country".

The Minister for Health conveyed a message of calm and confidence in the National Health System and its professionals, and recalled that work continues under the four criteria set initially: daily monitoring of the situation; decision-making based on scientific evidence; coordination with the regional governments and Europe; and total information transparency.
