Isabel Celaá underlined the need to encourage a focus on education in the financing structural funds that are currently being negotiated and to maintain the commitment to the Erasmus+ programme aimed at doubling the budget put forward by the European Commission and even as much as tripling the funds requested by the European Parliament.

Furthermore, the acting minister told the European commissioner about the need to maintain an ambitious outlook vis-à-vis the upcoming European Framework for Cooperation in Education and Training and to maintain the cooperation in education between Member States ahead of launching a European Education Area based on trust, mutual recognition, cooperation and the exchange of best practices in 2025.
