On the occasion of World Television Day, to be held on Wednesday, the President of the Government highlighted the role television has played in Spain and on its path towards liberty, remarking that "free-to-air television contributes to the democratic health of a country, provides cohesion and strengthens it".

Pedro Sánchez underlined its contribution to the Spanish economy and to job creation, as well as the prestige for Spain of its productions. The President of the Government, who stressed that the government will continue backing "high quality and free of charge free-to-air television", also announced that he will shortly present a National Technical Plan for Digital Terrestrial Television and that this will guarantee the provision of 5G services and the extension of its coverage, particularly in rural areas, with the aim of taking high definition to every corner of Spain.
