Paris (France)

King Felipe VI and Pedro Sánchez were received at Elysees Palace by the French President, Emmanuel Macron. They subsequently took part, together with more than 80 world leaders, in a ceremony by the Arc de Triomphe, on the Champs-Elysees, where the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is located. A minute's silence was observed for the more than 20 million dead in the Great War, the most devastating conflict known to humanity to date.

The King and the President of the Government, together with the other leaders in attendance, including the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, formed a human chain together with a group of young people in a collective gesture of commitment to peace, and of rejection of the horrors of war. This is the first time that Spain has been represented at these events at the highest level.
