"I would like to pass on my warm congratulations and my best wishes for every success on your election as the new President of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Poland.

In a year in which Spain and Poland celebrate the 40th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations our countries maintain close ties of friendship and collaboration, both in the European Union and at a bilateral level. I look forward to receiving you in Spain next year on the occasion of the 13th bilateral Spain-Poland Summit.

Rest assured that you may count on my full collaboration and that of the Government of Spain in further strengthening our strategic relations.

Together with my best wishes in the performance of your mandate, allow me to take this opportunity to extend my congratulations to the authorities and people of Poland on the centenary of the recovery of your independence to be held next year.

I hope to have the chance to congratulate you in person at the meeting of the European Council to be held in Brussels on 14 and 15 December.

Allow me to express, Mr Prime Minister, my warmest regards and deepest personal respect"

Mariano Rajoy Brey

President of the Government of Spain
