They will review the main issues on the international and regional agendas, including the agreement on inter-Palestinian reconciliation signed in Cairo on 12 October, in the hope of this contributing to reactivating the Middle East Peace Process, to which Spain is firmly committed. Spain advocates a two-State solution for achieving general, fair and lasting peace in line with the international parameters accepted to resolve the conflict and following the example of mutual trust activated at the Madrid Conference in 1991.

They will also address the cooperation programmes being implemented in Palestine, a priority destination for Spanish Cooperation.

The last visit by Mahmoud Abbas took place in December 2012. He will be accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Riad Malki, and Government Spokesperson, Nabil Aburudainah.
