Mariano Rajoy sends condolences to Mauricio Macri on Argentinean victims of terrorist attack in New York

Thursday 2 November 2017

The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, sent the following telegram of condolence to the President of the Republic of Argentina, Mauricio Macri, over the deaths of five Argentinean citizens in the terrorist attack in New York:

"Dear Mr President,

I wish to express, in my own name and on behalf of the people of Spain, my sincere condolences at the deaths of five Argentinean citizens in the vile terrorist attack perpetrated the day before yesterday in New York.

At this difficult time, I wish to reiterate the close friendship that unites our two peoples and our firm commitment to the fight against terrorism. We are all too familiar with this scourge and Argentina knows that we will always stand at its side. The senselessness of terrorists will not make our democratic convictions and model of co-existence in liberty waver.

I would be very grateful, Mr President, if you could pass on our condolences and affection to the families of these victims, as well as our best wishes for a speedy recovery to the Argentinean victim who was injured in this tragic attack and remains in hospital in New York.

Please accept, Mr President, my warm regards and deepest personal respect".

Mariano Rajoy Brey
President of the Government of Spain
