The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, received the President of the Regional Government of Madrid, Cristina Cifuentes, at Moncloa Palace, within the round of contacts being held with the new regional presidents following the elections on 24 May.

At the meeting, Mariano Rajoy and Cristina Cifuentes tackled issues of interest for the Region of Madrid, such as social issues, healthcare, education, the environment, infrastructure, immigration, regional financing and the public treasury.

They also analysed the situation in Catalonia, following the resolution proposal presented by two Catalan formations to start a process to create an independent Catalan State.
