At the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the commitments made at the latest summit in Wales and analysed the security situation in the Euro-Atlantic region, with a particular focus on the crisis situations in Ukraine, Libya and the Middle East.

The Secretary-General also expressed his gratitude for the important contributions made by Spain to NATO, especially emphasising the latest deployments in the Baltic countries and Turkey, as well as Spain's offer to lead the first NATO Very High Readiness Joint Task Force in 2016 as Framework Nation and the efforts made by Spain as the host nation for NATO's largest military exercise in decades, which will be held in Spain in the autumn.
