This information is available in Spanish (http://www.mitramiss.gob.es/es/brexit/index.htm) and English (http://www.mitramiss.gob.es/en/brexit/index.htm) and is aimed at all those British nationals currently residing in Spain as well as Spaniards living in the United Kingdom.

The topics included in the Brexit information are aimed at providing details about the guarantee of citizens' rights to residency and work, their legal certainty, the documentation process and protection in terms of Social Security and healthcare assistance for those people who have had or still have ties to the United Kingdom.

Citizen protection with or without an agreement

The Brexit information refers to both a withdrawal by the United Kingdom with an agreement, as well as without one. If an agreement is reached between the European Union and the United Kingdom on the withdrawal, people's rights will continue to be protected by the guarantees contained in the second part of the Withdrawal Agreement that has already been approved by the European Council but has yet to be ratified by the British Parliament.

In the event that an agreement on the withdrawal cannot be reached between the European Union and the United Kingdom, the protection of people's rights will be established under the unilateral measures approved by the Government of Spain and included in Spanish Royal Decree-Law 5/2019, of 1 March, on the adoption of contingency measures regarding the withdrawal by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the European Union without reaching the agreement provided for in Article 50 of the Treaty of the European Union.

The information page on the website of the Ministry of Work, Migration and Social Security about Brexit, which will continue to be updated, complements the general information page on Brexit that can be found on the website of the Presidency of the Government (http://www.lamoncloa.gob.es/lang/en/brexit/Paginas/index.aspx).
