Spain takes in 214 Syrian refugees from Lebanon, including 122 children

This groups of refugees arrived at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport at around 2 pm, comprising 51 men, 41 women and 122 children.

The refugees will be re-settled in Albacete (12), Almeria (5), Asturias (6), Badajoz (6) Barcelona (5), Huesca (13), Lugo (8), Madrid (39), Murcia (6), Navarre (26), Ourense (6), Pontevedra (10), Segovia (6), Seville (25), Soria (6), Tarragona (5), Toledo (6), Valencia (4), Vizcaya (4 ) and Zaragoza (16).

Spain has now taken in a total of 2,431 applicants for international protection, 1,301 under the relocation programme and1,130 under the resettlement programme, 410 from Turkey and 720 from Lebanon.

The Spanish System for the Reception and Integration of applicants/beneficiaries of international protection offers its beneficiaries a stay at a reception centre of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security or of an NGO (subsidised by the government) at which they are guaranteed lodging, meals, legal advice, psychological assistance, social care and advice, accompaniment to education centres, public health and social centres, language learning and basic social skills, guidance and intermediation for vocational training and job reinsertion, cultural activities and economic aid.
