​15 Eritrean refugees arrive in Spain from Italy under the relocation programme for asylum-seekers in the European Union

A total of 15 refugees, all of Eritrean nationality, have arrived in Spain from Italy under the relocation programme for asylum-seekers in the European Union.

This group of refugees, made up of 12 men, two women and one child arrived at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport at around 10:30 am on Tuesday.

These refugees will be relocated to Albacete (4), Madrid (6) and Seville (5).

Spain has now taken in a total of 2,217 applicants for international protection, 1,301 under the relocation programme and 916 under the resettlement programme, of which 410 have arrived from Turkey and 506 from Lebanon.

The Spanish System for the Reception and Integration of applicants/beneficiaries of international protection offers its beneficiaries a stay at a reception centre of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security or of an NGO (subsidised by the government) at which they are guaranteed lodging, meals, legal advice, psychological assistance, social care and advice, accompaniment to education centres, public health and social centres, language learning and basic social skills, guidance and intermediation for vocational training and job reinsertion, cultural activities and economic aid.
