Subsequently, Minister Dastis held a meeting with his counterpart. During the course of this meeting, the two ministers observed the excellent period being enjoyed in bilateral relations. The State visit by President Macri to our country represents a key boost to relations and should serve to cement the new era of strategic relations between our two countries, united by a sound base of common interests.

In regard to bilateral economic relations, Minister Dastis reiterated Spain's support to Minister Malcorra for the stabilisation and economic reform agenda implemented by the Argentinean Government. Economic and trade relations between the two countries, which are already intense, above all in terms of Spanish investment in the South American country, have a wide margin for improvement on both sides.

Ministers Dastis and Malcorra also exchanged perspectives on issues on the Ibero-American regional and international agenda. In this regard, they expressed a shared vision in regard to respect for democracy and individual liberties. The two countries also support cooperation and integration processes in Ibero-America and the renewal of the Ibero-American summits, and agreed to give greater importance to an EU-MERCOSUR agreement. Lastly, in relation to the United Nations, Spain and Argentina support each other in their respective claims for territorial integrity and have similar views on international issues, both in relation to international peace and security and on perspectives on the global economy and trade.
