Minister for Employment and her Argentinean counterpart sign Cooperation Agreement on Technical Assistance on Labour and Social Security Matters

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding took place in the Upper House of Parliament, in the presence of the State Secretary for Social Security, Tomás Burgos, and the Secretary-General for Immigration and Emigration, Marina del Corral. The participants at the event then held a meeting with the spokespersons of the Employment and Social Security Committee in the Upper House.

The agreement establishes the importance of strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries and of cooperating to contribute towards economic and social development. To that end, their collaboration will focus on the matter of work inspections and the fight against illegal employment at a Social Security level, on the issue of employment and vocational training, and on migration and mobility.

With respect to inspections there will be particular focus on health and safety conditions in the workplace on any labour exploitation.

In terms of inspections, they will cooperate on their respective pension systems, including the special systems or regimes for independent contractors, domestic workers and agricultural workers, as well as on pension supplements.

As regards employment and vocational training, the exchange of information and best practices on entrepreneurship and youth employment will be stepped up.

Lastly, on the issue of migration and mobility, good practices will be exchanged on the dynamic of migration, including the integration of migrants and vulnerable groups in the labour market.
