At his meeting with Jens Stoltenberg, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation conveyed Spain's support for the efforts being made by NATO to adapt to the new strategic security environment.

At regards NATO's eastern flank, he reminded him of Spain's solidarity with those allies with the greatest geographic exposure, contributing to measures to provide reassurance, such as the Air Policing Mission in the Baltic, and at adaptation, such as heading up the land component of the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF).

In terms of the southern flank, Alfonso Dastis underlined Spain's support for taking steps towards "projecting stability" on this flank, a priority for our country, particularly through the so-called framework for adaptation of NATO to address challenges from the south.

Furthermore, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation expressed to the Secretary General of NATO his support for the idea that a strong Europe in terms of defence will contribute to a strong NATO, above all in regard to developing its capabilities.
