Total number of recorded unemployed stands at 3,789,823 in November

Hence, the total number of recorded unemployed now stands at 3,789,823 and remains at the lowest level for the last seven years.

In seasonally-adjusted terms, unemployment rose by 14,543 in the month of November.

Over the last 12 months, unemployment has fallen by 359,475. The rate of year-on-year decline in unemployment stood at 8.66%, the largest year-on-year decline in November since 1999. The accumulated decline in unemployment since the start of the year stands at 303,685, the largest decline on record in a month of November.

Unemployment among the under-25s fell by 41,508 in year-on-year terms, meaning that youth unemployment has fallen by a total of 11.3% year-on-year, a faster rate than the general average of 8.66%.

Recorded unemployment rose among workers in the agriculture sector by 3,908 (up 2.18%), in industry it fell by 3,802 (down 1.1%), in the construction sector it fell by 4,524 (down 1.22%), in services it rose by 27,684 (up 1.09%).Among first-time job seekers it rose by 1.575 (up 0.48%).

Recorded unemployment fell in three autonomous regions, the Region of Valencia (down 5,268), Madrid (down 3,646) and the Basque Country (down 3,481). In contrast, it rose in the remaining 14 regions, headed up by the Balearic Islands (up 11,388) and Galicia (4,614).

Permanent employment contracts increase

The number of contracts registered in the month of November amounted to a total of 1,743,708, the highest figure on record for this month. This represents an increase of 138,865 (8.65%) on the same month last year.

A total of 154,854 permanent employment contracts were recorded in November. This is an increase of 21,987 (16.55%) on November 2015.

The number of permanent employment contracts has grown by 16.6% year-on-year, more than double the figure for temporary employment contracts (7.9%).

Since January, a total of 1,590,968 stable contracts have been formalised, an increase of 189,661 (up 13.53%) on the same period of 2015.
