Spain has taken in 199 refugees in September, of which 31 arrived in Madrid on Wednesday

Since the start of this process of receiving asylum-seekers began back in December, our country has taken in 673 people, of which 394 have been relocated and 279 resettled. During this time, 344 people have been relocated from Greece and 50 from Italy. During this period, 222 refugees from Lebanon have also been resettled and 57 from Turkey.

Of the 199 refugees arriving during September, 31 - 26 of Syrian nationality and 5 of Iraqi nationality - arrived on Wednesday from Greece at midday. The group, made up of six men, six women and 19 children, arrived at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. Five of these asylum-seekers will live in Burgos, another five in Albacete, 10 in Toledo and 11 in Cordoba.

The Spanish System for the Reception and Integration of applicants/beneficiaries of international protection offers its beneficiaries a stay at a reception centre of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security or of an NGO (subsidised by the government) at which they are guaranteed lodging, meals, legal advice, psychological assistance, social care and advice, accompaniment to education centres, public health and social centres, language learning and basic social skills, guidance and intermediation for vocational training and job reinsertion, cultural activities and economic aid.
